Summer Programs

Kindergarten and 1st grade

Registration Opens January 2nd

Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Programming for children entering Kindergarten and 1st grade is designed to expand on the foundation laid during the past school year surrounding problem solving, communication, adaptability, critical thinking, time management, and being a part of a larger group. Following directions, transitioning from one experience to the next, self-regulation, and performing tasks on our own continue to be part of the learning experience. Every week, we will have a program partner who will provide a special themed experience (in the morning), so children have the opportunity to adapt to different teaching styles and adults, new and different material, and classroom expectations. After lunch and recess, children will experience programming run by HDS Summer smARTS teachers. The afternoon themes will revolve around a feature length movie that children will watch sometime during the week. Children will not have a rest time built into their day. All programming occurs in the Early Childhood Building.
