Summer 2026 Summer smARTS

Summer smARTS is a vibrant, enriching program designed to keep young minds engaged, inspired, and growing all summer long. Through hands-on learning, creative exploration, and lively collaboration, students strengthen essential academic skills while discovering new passions. Our experienced educators create a supportive and joyful environment where every child feels confident stepping into new challenges and celebrating their successes.

Whether they’re diving into STEM projects, sharpening reading and writing skills, or unleashing their creativity, Summer smARTS learners build momentum for the school year ahead — all while having fun. Join us for a summer filled with discovery, confidence-building, and meaningful learning that lasts well beyond August.

$350 a week

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration and will be applied to your final summer balance.

Hours are 8:00am – 4:00pm

Morning Carpool is 7:45 – 8:00am

Afternoon Carpool is 3:45 – 4:00pm

You are welcome to drop off after 8am.

Ages 3 and 4 Building Confidence Through Play

  • 3-year-old classroom – maximum of 10 campers
  • 4-year-old classroom – maximum of 20 campers

Summer programs for 3- and 4-year-olds offer a playful and nurturing environment where young children can explore, create, and learn through hands-on activities. These programs focus on early development skills such as social interaction, communication, and problem-solving, all while engaging in fun activities like arts and crafts, music, nature exploration, and imaginative play. With a strong emphasis on curiosity and creativity, these programs are designed to help young children build confidence, develop friendships, and discover the joy of learning in a relaxed and supportive setting.

The 3-year-old summer program is thoughtfully designed and highly recommended for children who will be starting preschool in the fall but have not yet attended a formal program outside of the home.

Grades K and 1st A Perfect Balance of Fun and Learning

  • K classroom – 2 with a maximum of 20 campers in each
  • 1st classroom – 2 with maximum of 15 campers in each

Summer programs for Kindergarten and 1st graders provide a fun and nurturing environment where young children can explore, play, and learn. Through age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, storytelling, nature exploration, and simple science projects, these programs help foster creativity, social skills, and a love for learning. With a focus on hands-on, playful experiences, children build confidence, develop friendships, and enjoy the magic of discovery. These programs are designed to balance structured learning with plenty of free play, making it an exciting and joyful summer adventure for early learners.

Grades 2nd and 3rd Learning Through Play and Exploration

  • 2nd and 3rd grade (two classrooms are a mixture of 2nd and 3rd graders with a maximum of 15 campers in a room)
Summer programs for 2nd and 3rd graders offer young learners a fun and enriching environment to explore new interests while developing important social and academic skills. Through engaging activities like arts and crafts, outdoor play, science experiments, and creative storytelling, children are encouraged to use their imagination and curiosity. These programs focus on fostering collaboration, communication, and self-confidence, while also providing plenty of time for active play and discovery. Designed to balance learning with fun, they give younger students the chance to make new friends, explore their creativity, and enjoy a memorable summer experience.
 

Grades 4th through 8th Hands-On Learning Adventures

  • 4th through 8th grade (two classrooms are a mix of 4th-8th graders with a maximum of 15 campers in a room)

Middle Schoolers are welcome to join the 4th and 5th graders for our off-campus adventures! During weeks 1 and 8, campers will enjoy Carter Basketball Camp. This co-ed program will teach the fundamentals of basketball to beginners, and challenge those with more experience! During weeks 2, 3, 5, and 7, we will venture off campus and explore different sites around Harford and Baltimore Counties. Weeks 4 and 6 will mimic the rest of the camp themes of Holidays and Around the World with some fun and age-appropriate activities.

 

Summer Program Registration FAQs

You do not have to attend HDS or gain admission to take advantage of the summer programs.

Summer Programs registration and school admissions are separate processes. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration and will be applied to your final summer balance.

You may pay in full at registration.

We accept MSDE Office of Child Care Scholarships, MCCYN, and Child Care Aware (CCA) payments.

Payment plans are available and will be in effect through June 1. Registration closes on April 30.

Fees for all families who are not a part of MSDE scholarship, MCCYN, or CCA must be paid IN FULL on or before June 1st.

If we have to cancel a program due to lack of enrollment, you will be issued a full refund, or you may put the fees towards another program.

Cancellations or changes must be made by April 30 in order to switch weeks (if available) and/or receive a refund, less the $100 deposit. Refunds will not be issued due to illness or change of plans.

YES! While many summer programs are not, Summer smARTS is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care. We are expected to meet a high standard of health and safety requirements and undergo extensive training and supervision. License #51118
