Athletics

As in academics, Harford Day School is committed to excellence in athletics. In our Physical Education Program students build sports skills, learn about teamwork, and develop an appreciation for health and fitness. Beginning in fifth grade, students have an opportunity to play in interscholastic competition.

The philosophy for our teams can be summed up in the motto: "At Harford Day, everyone plays." There are no “cuts” from our teams. Competing against a variety of private, Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), schools from Baltimore and several schools from Harford County, students learn lessons of resiliency, perseverance, camaraderie, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Many Harford Day student athletes go on to compete in top high school programs at schools like Gilman, St. Paul’s, Calvert Hall, Bryn Mawr, Roland Park Country School, and McDonogh.

Our facilities include a full-size natural-grass game field, two practice fields, an air-conditioned field house and basketball court, and locker rooms.

Our Offerings Include:

  • Boys and Girls Soccer
  • Boys and Girls Lacrosse
  • Boys and Girls Basketball
  • Girls Field Hockey
  • Co-Ed Cross Country
  • Co-Ed Flag Football

Middle School Athletics

The emphasis in physical education is on teaching and developing sports skills. Sportsmanship and teamwork are stressed in a program in which everyone participates and plays in games. Students take physical education twice a week for an hour during the school day, and they have the option of participating on interscholastic teams.
