Registration Opens January 2nd
Ages 3 & 4
Programming for children ages 3 and 4 is designed to support the youngest learners in their journey to and through preschool. We will work on soft skills needed to be successful in preschool such as problem solving, communication, adaptability, critical thinking, time management, and being a part of a larger group. Following directions, transitioning from one experience to the next, lining up and moving about the building or campus, self-regulation, and performing tasks on our own are also part of the learning experience. Every week, we will have a program partner who will provide a special themed experience (in the morning), so children have the opportunity to adapt to different teaching styles and adults, new and different material, and classroom expectations. Children will have a rest period in the afternoon, similar to a traditional full day preschool programming. Children are not required to nap, but are expected to remain on their cot for a period of time to provide their bodies with a recharging period. Those children still awake after a period of time will do a quiet activity with the teachers while their friends sleep. This program is ideal for children who will be starting preschool in the fall; especially those who will be attending Harford Day School. We recommend students entering HDS spend at least one week attending the program before school starts. All children must be completely toilet-trained (no pull ups or diapers) to attend this program. All programming occurs in the Early Childhood Building.
