Entering Grade: K-Prep

Most Lasting Benefit of Your HDS Experience: One aspect of HDS that I believe will be most beneficial to me as I move on to HS/College would be time management. HDS is known to have rigorous academics and time management is necessary to do well.

One activity/subject you would not have tried unless you were at HDS:
When I started at HDS, I was a very shy individual. In the lower school, each student must participate in the annual class play. HDS provided me with the guidance, courage, and confidence to be a part of something that I ended up loving. Not only did this newfound confidence encourage me to continue to participate in the plays in Middle School, but it also trickled over to my passion outside of school, dance. Having the opportunity to gain confidence at such a young age through the class plays at HDS gave me the boost needed to not only step onto the theater stage with faith and trust but also onto the dance stage.

What makes HDS special?
One of the special things about HDS is the golden rule, "Treating others as you want to be treated” is presented to each student and encouraged by everyone. HDS is a place of kindness, acceptance, and love.

Favorite HDS Memory:
My favorite HDS memory are the plays that we did each year throughout lower school. I loved every aspect of the process from the set design and artwork to making the costumes and memorizing all the lines and songs. The plays were often tied into a theme or subject we were learning in class. It was a great way to learn from a different perspective while still having fun. I also enjoyed working with the students and many different faculty during the process of getting the show ready. Throughout the years, the plays may not have been perfect, especially during our younger years, but they were always comical and memorable.
