Extended Day
Harford Day School’s Extended Day Program offers a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for students from dismissal until 5:30 p.m. on regular school days and most early dismissal days throughout the academic year.
We group students by age to deliver programming that supports their developmental needs. Preschool students enjoy Extended Day in the Preschool Building, with access to age-appropriate playgrounds. The afternoon includes time for a snack brought from home, outdoor or indoor play, and occasional crafts or structured activities. Students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade gather in the Middle School Building. After enjoying a snack from home, they may choose from various activities, including outdoor play on the playground and fields (weather and staff permitting), recreational time in the Multi-purpose Room, or quiet indoor options such as reading, studying, or games.
All Extended Day students are picked up from the Preschool Building.
Extended Day space is guaranteed by completing an annual contract by the August deadline. Registration for Extended Day closes August 15 to allow for proper staffing. Contracts include a required $50 annual fee paid at the time of registration. Extended Day begins at dismissal.
Depending on the contract option selected, a late fee of $25 will be charged for every 15-minute increment after the pickup deadline, starting at 4:31 p.m. or 5:31 p.m.
If space and staffing allow, drop-in use of Extended Day is accommodated. The $50 annual fee is paid with the first drop-in. Subsequent fees are billed at a flat fee depending on the option selected from those below. Extended Day begins at dismissal.
Pickup by 5:30 p.m., unscheduled = $30/day
A late fee of $25 will be charged for every 15-minute increment, starting at 5:31 p.m.
