The 8th Annual Fine Arts Festival

The 8th Annual Arts Festival, a juried exhibit and sale, was held November 6 and 7, 2009 on the campus of Harford Day School. This year's show was certainly the most successful and exciting show ever! Sixty-three artists exhibited original, handcrafted work in a variety of media including watercolor, oil painting, sculpture, jewelry, glass, ceramics, photography, iron work, wood, and fiber arts. The entire show took on a Caribbean theme!

The festivities began with a Preview Party for adults on Friday, November 6th. Guests who attended the Preview Party were the first to preview and purchase artwork while enjoying the food from many of our best local restaurants. Many of the dishes served took on a Caribbean flair, including conch fritters by Price's Seafood, roasted pig by DuClaw Brewing Company, and jerk chicken by Liberatore's. Some of the additional participating restaurants were Bonefish Grill, Laurrapin Grill, Broom's Bloom, Fritzie's Deli and Catering, The Lodge, Jeff Gordon Catering, Scotto's, Sizzling Bombay, and Josef's Country Inn, and Bel Air Bakery. Everyone enjoyed the chocolate fountain from Bomboy's Home Made Canides! Consistent with this year's Caribbean theme, Lenny Rogers from Trinidad entertained the party-goers on the steel drums. Maui Wowi served island drinks from a Tiki Bar on the field house stage, Evolution Craft and DuClaw's Brewing Companies served their award-winning craft beers, and a lucky raffle winner went home with a week's stay at the luxurious Lacovia Resort on Seven-Mile Beach on Grand Cayman.

Saturday's show was open to the public. Saturday offered something for people of all ages,  including theatre-quality face-painting, a student art sale to benefit The Harford County Humane Society, creative workshops, a strolling magician, art raffles; and a live rock concert by Cryin' Out Loud, featuring two recent HDS alumni. A delicious lunch, non-alcoholic Tiki bar, coffee and treats were available for purchase.
