Summer Programs

Summer Camp Schedule & COVID Protocols

Harford Day School successfully reopened for in-person learning in September 2020 (you may read the initial plan below), and our protocols have continued to evolve as needed throughout the school year. The administration is carefully monitoring and following State of Maryland requirements for Child Care facilities for our summer 2021 programs (please see below).
 
General Summer Schedule (Early Childhood)

7:30 a.m. - Arrival begins, Centers

8:00 a.m. - Playground 

9:00 a.m. - Summer Day Begins: Morning Meeting and Social Emotional Literacy 

9:30 a.m. - Snack

9:50 a.m. - Centers/Academic Enrichment

10:30 a.m. - Outside Vendor

11:30 a.m. - Playground 

12:00 p.m. - Lunch

12:30 p.m. - Rest/Quiet Activities/Academic Enrichment: puzzles, books, art (once nappers are asleep older children may also go to the playground)

2:30 p.m. - Playground 

3:00 p.m. - Camp Day Ends and Extended Day begins

3:30 p.m. - Snack

3:45 p.m. - Centers/Academic Enrichment

4:30 p.m. Departure from EC building (anyone remaining will go to the MS for pick up)

6:00pm - Final Departure 

**Academic Enrichment is designed to keep the students engaged and enriched throughout the summer. We have collaborated with the HDS teachers to come up with fun and engaging age-appropriate activities to prepare students for the upcoming school year!
General Summer Schedule (grades 1-5)

7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m. - Early Drop Off (free play inside and outside)

9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. - Summer Day Begins: Welcome/Topic of the week discussion (all ages together)

9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. - Activity Rotation 1 (Two 30-45 minute blocks of theme based activities - rotations: 1st and 2nd-5th)

12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. - Lunch/Free Time/Recess (all ages together)

1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. - Activity Rotation 2 (Two 30-45 minute blocks of theme based activities - rotations: 1st and 2nd-5th)

2:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. - Summer Day Ends: Wrap Up (all ages together)

3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. - Extended Day free play inside and outside (campers picked up any time between 3-6, all ages together)

Outside - courtyard and playground
Inside - Middle School commons room (double classrooms)
Harford Day is the only PK3 to Grade 8 independent school in Harford County accredited by AIMS (Association of Independent Maryland/DC Schools) and a member of NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).
