Four (4), One Week Sessions, July 8 - August 2, 2019

Week 1: July 8-12, 2019

TASTE SENSATION
Delights galore! Calling all foodies. Put your chefs’ hats on and get ready to cook. Our campers are in for quite a treat as we explore, experiment, and fill our bellies with tasty treats. This week will surely have something for everyone to eat. Our weekly trip to Young Chefs Academy and Prigel Family Creamery are sure to be a hit!

Week 2: July 15-19, 2019

WHAM!

What are we up to today campers? Well, saving the world of course! Get into your favorite superhero or princess character costume and make the world a better place. Games, activities, challenges, and obstacles will help you show your powers. Polish your skills at Urban Air Adventure Park in anticipation of our special surprise guests that will surely turn your world upside down. We end our week with a bang at our first Camp HDS Comic-On Expo!

½ Day Basketball Clinic option this week. Welcome nationally recognized coach Tony Martin! Please note: campers who sign up for this option must attend clinic with the exception of Camp HDS trip days.

Week 3: July 22-26, 2019

DRAGON TANK
Inventors in training. What can we do with all the leftover recyclables? We'll make some gadgets, of course! This week is all about creativity. Think, make, sell. Campers will use all available resources to create the “thingamajig” of their dreams. Wait that’s not all. We will also visit Merritt Athletic Club White Marsh, and Dutch Wonderland. The grand finale of the week will be displaying your creations in DRAGON TANK!

½ Day Dance/Performing Arts option this week. We invite Dance Dimensions to Camp HDS. Please note: campers who sign up for this option must attend with the exception of Camp HDS trip days.

Week 4: July 29-August 2, 2019

GREAT OUTDOORS
Experience the outdoors in the company of your friends. Swim, bike, slide, and ride. This week is sure to make you smile. Fuzzy, furry, slimy critters are also sure to make a visit. Campers will experience the outdoors as they enjoy a fun filled day at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park. And, if that’s not enough, we’ll also investigate the world of turtles, fish, beavers and more, as we trek into the natural habitat of these awesome creatures!

2019 Camp HDS Rates

$325 per week Pre-K to Grade 5

$300 per week Grades 6 & 7 (Dragon Trainers)

$125 per week Grades 8 to 12 (CITs) Application required. Upon acceptance, parent(s) will receive a registration link.

Extended Day Options

Unlimited Hours (7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.): $65.00 per week

Before Care Only: (7:30-9:00 a.m.): $30.00 per week

After Care Only: (3:00-6:00 p.m.): $55.00 per week

Camp Overview

MISSION

The mission of Camp HDS is to enrich the emotional, social and physical life of each camper while incorporating educational activities and skills through hands-on experience. We promote team-building activities and strive to create an atmosphere where campers feel a sense of unity and confidence. The Camp HDS staff is committed to ensuring each camper’s safety while promoting a fun-filled and educational day.

SERVICE LEARNING

Dragon Trainer (Rising 6th, 7th)

This program combines your child’s favorite camp activities and field trips with an introductory service learning component that focuses on teamwork, leadership, and community service within the camp. All Dragon Trainers will be issued a certificate for their service learning hours.

Counselor In Training (CIT) (Rising 8th-12th)

CIT’s will learn responsibility while participating in service learning activities focusing on character building, responsibility, and leadership. Under the teacher’s supervision, CIT’s will assist with younger camp groups and activity set- up while participating in activities with their peers. Lessons learned as a CIT at Camp HDS are valuable tools for future academic, personal, and professional endeavors. All CITs will be issued a certificate for their service learning hours. CITs are encouraged to volunteer for at least 2 weeks.
