Early Childhood (Ages 3-6)
K-Prep & Kindergarten
Holding advanced degrees, our Early Childhood team is representative of the level of excellence that can only be found in an AIMS accredited school. Harford Day School is the only Pre-K through Eighth Grade School in Harford County accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland-DC Schools (AIMS), and member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). The Early Childhood and Extended Day programs are further licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
Beginning a Harford Day School education in K-Prep is a gift your child and family will treasure—the memories, friendships and learning become the cornerstone for later success. Growing up in an age 3 to grade 8 school, such as Harford Day, provides a child with the security and nurturing support that allows them to blossom with self confidence, character and life skills that go beyond academic learning.
Taking advantage of our entire 12 acre campus, enriched learning opportunities for Early Childhood students include: Spanish, Chinese, physical education, art, music, introduction to media studies and technology! Morning gatherings build a sense of community and celebrate citizenship and cultures around the world, and the school tradition of class plays begins in K-Prep.
The K-Prep and Kindergarten enjoy a building of their own that was designed with young children in mind. A spacious common room is used for morning gathering, classes, special lunches, rest, and musical shows. For recess, Early Childhood students have their own outdoor play area with equipment appropriate to their age and stage of development.
At Harford Day School your entire family joins our school community. Whether you accompany a class on a field trip, come in as a guest reader, or formally volunteer as a Room Parent or Parent Association Representative, you will find our doors open to you. Our teachers communicate frequently with parents and you will develop a rapport with them in support of your child(ren).
As a service for working parents, in addition to extended care from 7:15 AM to 6:00 PM, Harford Day School offers a summer program for our students (newly enrolled and continuing) in K-Prep I through rising first grade.
