Greetings and welcome to the Harford Day School website.
We hope our website gives you a glimpse into our community and provides you with timely and beneficial information. Of course, just browsing the website cannot show you the full depth and scope of our School or program. Current families stop by often and are always welcome, but we encourage prospective families to pay a visit to our beautiful campus, to meet our teachers, and to experience first-hand all we have to offer.
Much has changed in the world of education since Harford Day’s founding in 1957. The School has made great strides in keeping up with current philosophies, methods, and materials to best engage its students. Nevertheless, there are three key elements of the Harford Day experience that remain constant– we challenge our students to master the skills and knowledge necessary for success in upper school; we know that supportive classroom relationships based on respect are central to those expectations; and we believe in partnering with parents to do what is best for every student.
As an independent school, we remain free to build our own exceptional faculty whose content expertise is only exceeded by their love of teaching children. Unique to independent schools like Harford Day, our teachers create our curricula and program, thus having a vested interest in its effectiveness and the success of their students. There is no “teaching to the test” at Harford Day, because our students are not required to submit to state and federal testing.
A Harford Day School education is a gift meant to enrich the mind, body, and spirit of every student; its benefits realized not only while in elementary and middle school, but into high school, college, and life. While the website provides pertinent information about who we are, interacting with our students and faculty is the only way to experience the vitality that characterizes each day at Harford Day. Again, I invite you to come see us in action.
Best wishes and Go Dragons!
