Capital Campaigns

5205_115949_0.jpgOccasionally, Harford Day School undertakes capital campaigns to fund initiatives that have a long-term impact on the institution. In the past, these campaigns have funded building projects, including a new classroom wing and field house (1989-1991), a new kindergarten (1994-1995), and a middle school building (1998-2000) and a renovated health suite and front offices (2003 - 2005).

In 2007, Harford Day began their largest campaign to date with the Building Today, Ensuring Tomorrow, Campaign for Harford Day School. As we begin a new school year in 2008, the school has raised $2.8 million of their $3 million dollar goal. Solicitations will continue this fall and in to the winter months. Pledges can be paid over a five-year period.

As a result of our campaign efforts, Harford Day has been building a 12,600 square foot addition to the field house. Two science classrooms, a lab, a third classroom, and a large multi-purpose room will be complete for the 2008-2009 school year. Geo-thermal heating and cooling has been added to this new space and will aid in our efforts of maintaining a green school environment. Naming opportunities exist for this new space.

The second part of this campaign is a special effort to raise money for our endowment fund. Those interested in learning more about assisting with investing in the future of Harford Day School, may request more information on the school's endowment funds which support financial aid and faculty professional development. Over $400,000 was added to the endowment funds in 2007-2008 school year.

A special donor wall is being designed by Paul '75 and Tracy Lyon of Lyon Clay Studios and will feature the Chesapeake Bay. Donors who pledge $5,000 or more will own a tile in the mural and will be able to pick an animal found in and around the bay to feature on their tile.  For more information, please contact Director of Advancement Kim Metzger.
