The Annual Fund
Tuition only covers roughly 86% of the total cost of educating a child at Harford Day. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide a significant portion of the additional resources needed to close the gap. Gifts to the Annual Fund support four operational priorities:
• Enrich Educational Programs- provide the technology, classroom resources, reference materials, and out-of-class experiences that sustain academic excellence
• Promote Faculty Excellence- provide competitive compensation and benefits for faculty, including financial support for professional development
• Improve Campus Facilities- finance ongoing expenditures to improve our buildings, grounds, and athletic fields
• Provide Student Financial Aid- provide financial assistance to families with documented need
2008-2009 Annual Giving Campaign
The 2008-2009 Annual Giving Campaign will begin in the fall of 2008. Last year over $200,000 was raised for the operating budget, and our current parents represented our largest giving constituency. Thank you for making our campaign a success once again.
We hope you will consider making a gift to this year’s Annual Giving Campaign. All gifts to the Annual Fund are tax deductible. Special remittance envelopes and information about the Annual Giving Campaign will be available from the Office of Advancement.(410-838-4848).
Ways to Give
There are three ways to make a gift to the Annual Giving Campaign: cash (check), credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express & Discover), or securities. Many of our donors are able to increase the total amount of their gift through their employers’ Matching Gift Program.
Cash
A cash gift saves Harford Day School money and time since no pledge reminders need to be sent throughout the year. Special remittance envelopes are available from the Development Office or you may send your check directly to the school. Please make your check payable to Harford Day School and mail it to:

Credit Card
Using your credit card is an easy, fast, and secure way to contribute to the Annual Fund. To make a credit card gift on-line, please click the link on the left side of the page. Harford Day uses a third-party, secure vendor that offers lower rates to non-profit organizations. When making an on-line transaction, you will receive an instant notice that a gift has been made and a second notice will be instantly emailed to the Development Office.
Securities
Every year, many individuals elect to make their gifts through a transfer of appreciated securities to Harford Day School. The Development Office is available to assist you in giving securities. Please contact, or have your broker contact, Director of Advancement Kim Metzger (410-838-4848).
Matching Gift
Many companies offer matching gift programs to their employees and their families. A matching gift enables you to significantly increase your total contribution to the school. To find out if your company offers matching gifts to primary schools, like Harford Day, please contact your Human Resources Department. If your company does participate in a matching gifts program, your human resources department will have the necessary forms to get the process started. (The forms need to be filled out by both you and the school's development department.)
Giving Clubs
Harford Day appreciates every gift from every donor, whatever the amount. We know that our donors make the difference at Harford Day. The school has established Giving Clubs to provide special recognition for those donors whose annual gifts are $100 or greater. Members of the Giving Clubs are listed in the Harford Day Annual Report.
• Head’s Circle donations of $5,000 or more
• Meridian Society donations from $2,500 to $4,999
• 1957 Society donations from $1,000 to $2,499
• Honor Associates donations from $500 to $999
• Blue & Green Circle donations from $250 to $499
• Dragon League donations from $100 to $249
