Throughout the year...
Harford Day School is a vibrant, active community with rich traditions and a host of annual events for our students, staff, families, and community. Be sure to check back regularly for new events, and don’t forget to follow Harford Day on Facebook!
High School Night
High School Night at Harford Day School draws some of the top prep schools from up and down the east coast to our campus in early October to meet our talented students and their parents. Each year an average of 60 Admission Directors from local Independent Schools, both secular and religious, boarding schools and local Public School Magnet programs fill our Field House and Multipurpose Room.
Throughout the year, the School hosts Open House opportunities for prospective parents. Families take a student-led tour to see the program in action and talk with administrators, teachers and current parents.
Founders’ Day and Moving Up Day
Students gather for a “Moving Up Day” ceremony during the final week of the school year. It includes a brief history of the school and a ceremonial passing of the banners as each grade “moves up” to the next class.
On the last day of school, all students, staff, family, and friends gather to be part of the 8th grade graduation. There is a featured speaker, often an alumna(e). This festive occasion serves as an informal reunion as many alumni return to campus.
In keeping with a long-standing Harford Day tradition, each student is placed on the HDS Blue Team or Green Team upon enrollment. Immediately following the Graduation ceremony, students in K-Prep – fifth grade participate in Blue/Green relay races. Students remain on their Blue or Green Team throughout their time at Harford Day. Siblings are always placed on the same team, and children of alums share their parent’s team color.
