Ways to Give

Institutional advancement (or what we call development or fundraising) is an important part of the foundation of an independent school. Funds raised through
annual giving, capital campaigns, endowment and the special events listed to the left support the people and programs that make Harford Day a special place.

Harford Day’s tuition only covers approximately 86% of the cost of educating a child, which is common among the majority of independent schools. Annual giving, for example, helps fund the difference, and therefore, to some degree, every student attends on a scholarship. Funds raised through our various fund-raising programs help keep class size small, enable social and economic diversity, and promote professional development for our faculty.

We encourage you to learn more about the ways you can support Harford Day School. For more information, please contact Director of Advancement
Kim Metzger (410) 838-4848.

Meet the Staff
Kim Metzger, Director of Advancement
kimmetzger@harfordday.org
Kim is entering her sixth year in leading Harford Day's fundraising efforts and is responsible for major gifts, the Annual Fund, special events, marketing, and all activities in the Office of Advancement. Kim has over 17 years of experience in fundraising, marketing and public relations. She's a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals - MD (AFP), was the founder of the Harford County Celebration of Philanthropy, and is in her third year serving as Co-Chair of this event.  Kim's past positions have included: the Director of Development and Communications for the Epilepsy Foundation; Marketing Manager for the Pittsburgh Senior Classic, the Senior PGA TOUR; and Corporate Sales Coordinator for the University of Miami Hurricanes. In addition to her various positions, Kim has run a successful graphic design and marketing consulting business for several years. Kim is a 1991 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Communications. Several years after graduating from Pitt, she began working on her M.B.A. and then decided to switch gears and study art instead. She then studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Kim now uses her skills and knowledge in marketing and design in all of her fundraising efforts.
"I believe it's extremely important to support your fundraising efforts with a clear message and brand. In doing so, you are able to make a stronger connection with your donors. Knowledgeable donors are more generous donors."  -- Kim Metzger
